Best Start for Kindergarten 2019

Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is a literacy and numeracy assessment conducted for all Kindergarten students in NSW at the beginning of school.

Best Start Kindergarten Assessment identifies student’s literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge on entry to Kindergarten. It allows teachers to build upon students strengths and develop teaching and learning programs that support students in the transition to school.

The assessment task is administered one on one with a student and a teacher. It generally takes 45 minutes to administer the assessment.

The results enable the students to be placed on the learning progressions which will support teachers to target student learning and differentiate teaching experiences for students in greater detail.
