The tests assess the foundational skills in reading, writing, spelling and numeracy that are essential for every child to progress through school and life.</p> <p>This year NAPLAN takes place between 14 and 16 May for paper tests and between 14 and 24 May for schools participating in <a href="https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/student-assessment/naplan-online/getting-ready/parent-information">NAPLAN Online</a>.</p> <p>NAPLAN data is used to help monitor student progress over time against a national measure and to identify areas of strength and improvement. It allows teachers to build upon students strengths and develop teaching and learning programs that support students in the transition to school.</p> <p>The assessment task is administered one on one with a student and a teacher.
